NEW ORLEANS — Deveney Communication was honored with 8 state, regional and international awards at the New Orleans Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) annual ceremony October 26.
The Gold Quill Awards Program is the hallmark of excellence in business communication. From thousands of entries submitted from communication professionals around the world, only the most outstanding communicators have been honored with this coveted award.
Deveney Communication was bestowed with the Gold Quill Award of Merit for the second year in a row—and the third overall—for their successful work with the launch of mardigras.com. The Web site received more than 28 million page views during the campaign, which exceeded the goal by 23 million page views or 560%. Deveney continues its trend as the only recipient in the state of Louisiana to be awarded a Gold Quill.
“The IABC Gold Quill represents the highest honor that business communicators can bestow on their peers to recognize communication excellence around the world,” stated Catherine Blades, ABC, president of IABC/New Orleans. “This award signifies that Deveney Communication is truly one of the benchmarks for the best in the communication field in the world.”
The firm was also recognized regionally with three Silver Quill Awards of Excellence.
The Silver Quill Award recognizes the best practices in communication throughout Southeast United States, encompassing Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Deveney Communication was recognized for their expertise in community and government relations and writing. The firm supported efforts for the amendment to Louisiana’s constitution to provide permanent funding for The Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) passing in a landslide victory of more than 71% of the vote—some 140% of the goal. An educational article, “How to Make Internet Marketing Simple,” was printed in a leading communication professional journal describing how to market a Web site and highlighting the firm’s past success and capabilities.
Additionally, the firm was recognized with four local Bronze Quill awards.
The Bronze Quill, awarded only when a judge determines an entry distinguishes itself above all others, was bestowed for the firm’s work in creating and implementing the communication program for mardigras.com. Only one Bronze Quill may be given in each category.
Two Bronze Quill Awards of Excellence were presented for the firm’s communication program and writing excellence for its work with TOPS and the introduction of Farrington Productions, the Las Vegas-based company responsible for the nightly parade at Harrah’s New Orleans Casino, into the New Orleans market.
A Bronze Quill Award of Merit was bestowed for Deveney Communication’s writing abilities for a program it coordinated when NOLA Live partnered with the Audubon Institute during the delivery of the two rare white tigers to the zoo.
IABC is the worldwide association for communication and public relations professionals dedicated to fostering communication excellence worldwide, to helping communicators contribute to their organization’s goals and to being a model of communication excellence itself.
Deveney Communication also recently received top local, regional and international honors from the American Marketing Association, Business Marketing Association, the Summit Creative Awards, the Communicator Awards, PRSA, the APEX Publication Excellence Awards and the American Institute of Graphic Arts.
