NEW ORLEANS —Deveney Communication was recognized at the annual conference of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) in Chicago with an international award of excellence.
The Gold Quill Awards program is an annual international competition that offers professional communicators an opportunity to have their work evaluated by expert judges. Deveney Communication has won three Gold Quill awards of merit in the last three years, but this is the first award of excellence bestowed upon a Louisiana organization.
“For more than 25 years, IABC's Gold Quill Awards program has been the hallmark of excellence in business communication,” Jillian de Beers, Gold Quill chairperson and principal of de Beer Marketing & Communications in Auckland, New Zealand, said. “From the many thousands of entries submitted throughout the years, only the most outstanding communicators have been honored with this coveted award.”
The Deveney Communication 2001 anniversary celebration invitation earned the Gold Quill for organizational brand identity or non-publication project where design is the primary communication function or tool. The annual international Gold Quill competition honors the top work in only 17 categories, promotes the highest standards and recognizes outstanding solutions to business communication and other management challenges.
“The Gold Quill is the epitome of excellence in a competitive global industry,” said Joy Patin, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) New Orleans Chapter president. “Our own Deveney Communication earning this award in addition to their previous years’ awards brings worldwide recognition to New Orleans as a source for high quality world-renowned public relations.”
Deveney Communication’s distinction in this category this year places the firm among the ranks of fellow winners Mobil in Slovenia; Lego in Ontario, Canada; Dow in Switzerland; Ford in Dearborn, Mich.; and Brown & Caldwell of Walnut Creek, Ca.
John Deveney, ABC, senior counsel, accepted the award on the firm’s behalf at a black-tie gala at the international conference, which hosted more than 1,500 industry leaders from some 35 countries.
The Deveney Communication team that produced this award winning work included Deveney; Jeffrey Ory; Melissa Hodgson, ABC, Catherine Blades, ABC; Nicholas Shapiro; Jason Tudor; Amanda Cespedes; Katie di Carlo and Amanda Drewes.
