NEW ORLEANS—Deveney Communication was recognized by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) New Orleans Chapter at its Annual Awards ceremony. The organization presented the firm with a prestigious Silver Anvil Award for its crisis communications response on behalf of the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau following Hurricane Katrina.
Deveney also earned six Awards of Excellence: Crisis Communication, NOMCVB Post-Katrina Communications; Special Event, 150th Anniversary of Mardi Gras; External Relations, Mardi Gras and the Spirit of Louisiana’s Rebirth Media Tour; External Relations, the Getty Foundation Fund for New Orleans; Direct Mail Piece, Deveney Communication Holiday Card; Internal Magazine or Newsletter, The Branch Chalmette Refining Newsletter and an Award of Merit for External Relations, 2005 Arxcel Prescription Benefit Research Survey.
Just days after Hurricane Katrina, Deveney Communication established the New Orleans Tourism Communication and Media Center, where they helped manage some 2,000 journalists reporting from the New Orleans area. The team worked tirelessly to ensure that the messages leaving the city would be reported positively and accurately.
