NEW ORLEANS – October 05, 2007 – Top-notch PR professional Joel D. Mandina, originally from Belle Chasse, LA, makes his return to New Orleans and fulltime agency work after working in Boston, traveling to Europe and the Middle East and freelance writing for The Times-Picayune.
Mandina, who joined Deveney in September of 2007, will bring his valuable public relations background to clients such as Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group, The Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, Planet Beach and Touro Infirmary.
“To be honest I was apprehensive about returning to work in New Orleans,” admits Mandina, “but once I meant with John and his ‘dream team’ at Deveney I knew that I’d want to work in this city, with these people and these clients for a long time coming.”
After losing his job like so many after Katrina, Mandina capitalized on his relationship with the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and was recruited to Mullen, a top twenty full-service agency, in Boston. Some of Mullen’s most prominent clients include the U.S. Department of Defense, Olympic cameras (including the title sponsorship of New York Fashion Week) and the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism.
Upon his return from Boston, Mandina began writing for the “Inside/Out” section of The Times-Picayune and traveled to places including the Netherlands, Spain and the United Arab Emirates.
Mandina began his career as a public relations coordinator at Keating Magee where he worked on such local names as New Orleans Fine Hotels, the House of Blues, Churchill Downs and Galatoire’s. He also helped to create the now-annual, Christmas-time Lighting of Canal St.
He is a 2004 graduate of Loyola University New Orleans in which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and communication with emphasis in public relations.
