NEW ORLEANS – Owner of New Orleans public relations firm Deveney Communication, John Deveney, ABC, APR, has been selected to serve on the University of Florida’s (UF) Public Relations Advisory Council, one of the oldest advisory boards serving public relations education in the country. Deveney will serve a three-year term assisting the nationally recognized advisory board.
“We are delighted that someone of John Deveney’s caliber and reputation will be joining the University of Florida’s Department of Public Relations Advisory Council,” Dr. Spiro Kiousis, APR, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Public Relations at UF, said. “Given his extensive professional experience, leadership in the profession, and commitment to public relations education, I am certain he will make significant contributions to our program for years to come.”
The advisory council, established in 1979, strives to enhance teaching, research, and service activities. The council is consistently recognized as one of the nation’s top three programs of its kind in the nation.
Deveney, a native of Florida and graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, founded his award-winning firm in 1996. Leading industry publication PR News named Deveney its 2006 PR Agency Executive of the Year. This top national honor came seven years after naming Deveney as one of its first list of “15 to Watch,” which featured new public relations leaders from across the globe who are shaping the profession.
